Commissions
How to charge a commission on your merchant accounts' payments: the offer, the payout recipient and how it's calculated.
You set your commission once, and Chytapay transfers it on every payment. You need connected merchant accounts: see Connect merchant accounts.
Who gets what: the payer pays the merchant, and each payment carries the commission for your payout recipient.
- The payer transfers the request amount to the merchant account.
- For each credited payment, Chytapay moves the accepted commission from the merchant account to your integration's payout recipient.
- The integration admin configures the offer and the payout recipient, but gets no money.
How they relate
| Piece | What it is |
|---|---|
| Offer | The commission you publish. On its own it charges nothing. |
| Payout recipient | The Chytapay account, with a CVU, that receives the commissions. It can't be the integration admin. |
| Accepted commission | The copy of the offer that stays fixed on each merchant account when it connects. It's what gets charged, and it's needed together with the other two. |
Start charging a commission
Steps 1 and 2 are done by the integration admin, in the Distribución (Distribution) section of the Portal.
- Set the offer in Comisión (%): a percentage greater than 0 and up to 100. If you don't want to charge a commission, don't set an offer.
- Invite the payout recipient by email, with Invitar (Invite) in the recipient block. If the email has no account, they get an email to sign up. A limited-access account, one that can only pay, can't receive funds.
- Check that the recipient accepted. Until then, no payment transfers a commission.
- Connect your merchant accounts. When authorizing your integration, each one accepts the current commission, which stays fixed. The authorization screen shows it.
See how to resend, cancel or change the payout recipient
The invitation stays pending until they accept it or you cancel it, even if the email link expires. The recipient can also accept it from their Chytapay account. There's a single pending invitation and a single active recipient per integration.
| Action | In the Portal |
|---|---|
| Resend the email | Reenviar invitación (Resend invitation). The previous link stops working. |
| Cancel a pending invitation | Cancelar invitación (Cancel invitation) |
| Change the recipient | Reemplazar recaudador (Replace recipient). The current one keeps collecting until the new one accepts. |
When and how it's calculated
It's transferred right away, for each credited payment: there's no monthly settlement.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| On the gross | The percentage applies to the payment as it came in. |
| Partial payments | Each transfer pays its commission. |
| Rounding | To 2 decimals, in pesos. |
| Fixed amount | The Portal sets the offer as a percentage: a fixed-amount commission is requested from support. If the payment is smaller, the commission is the whole payment, never more. |
| Where it comes from | From the merchant account that collected to the recipient's. If they're the same, nothing is transferred. |
Change a merchant's commission
Each merchant keeps the commission it accepted. Changing the offer, or deleting it, affects only those who connect afterwards. To change it for one already connected:
- In the Portal, under Cuentas de comercio (Merchant accounts), choose the Proponer cambio de comisión (Propose commission change) icon on its row. The row shows what it pays today.
- Propose the new percentage, from 0 to 100 with up to 2 decimals: it isn't rounded.
- The merchant accepts or rejects it from its Chytapay account. It expires after 30 days, and until it accepts, it pays the previous one.
There's a single pending proposal per merchant: the same percentage returns the existing one and another replaces it. It's always a percentage, even if the merchant was paying a fixed amount. With 0%, it stops paying a commission.
Why am I not collecting?
If something is missing, Chytapay skips the commission without an error and the payment goes through normally.
| Cause | What to do |
|---|---|
| There's no active payout recipient | Check under Distribución that the recipient is accepted. If the invitation is still pending, resend it. |
| The recipient can't receive funds | They haven't finished signing up with Chytapay or have no CVU. |
| The merchant connected before the offer | It accepted no commission and pays 0. Propose a commission change. |
| The recipient is the same account that collects | Invite a different account as recipient. |
