Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common integrator questions: reconciliation, charges, messages, settlement and commissions.
The questions integrators ask us most, with the answer for how things work today. If yours is not here, write to [email protected] or on WhatsApp at +54 9 351 543 0077.
Reconciliation
Can someone else pay, for example a parent for a student?
Each charge carries a single payer document. If you know someone else will transfer, set their document when you create the charge, or change it before the payment with PATCH /payment-request/{referenceId}/customer. If the charge sends WhatsApp notices in CUIL mode, the notice includes a "Pagar con otro DNI" (Pay with another ID) button: the payer types the ID of the person who will transfer and that person is authorized. If that person had already transferred to that CVU, the payment is matched at that moment.
More detail in If a third party pays and Correct the payer of an existing charge.
A person has two open charges at once. How is their transfer matched?
Each open charge gets its own CVU, even for the same payer. Each transfer is matched to the charge of the CVU it arrives at. If they transfer the total of both charges to a single CVU, all of it is matched to that charge and the other stays pending: it is not split.
Can I match a payment that was left unidentified by hand?
Through the Integration API, not today. The merchant can assign, from their Chytapay account, the unmatched transfers that arrived at a charge's CVU. For any other case, write to [email protected] or on WhatsApp at +54 9 351 543 0077. How such a payment reaches your backend is in Handle an unmatched payment.
What happens if the payer transfers too much or too little?
Too little: the charge stays in partial payment and each new transfer adds up until the balance is covered. Too much: the whole amount is matched to the charge, which ends up paid; the excess is not returned on its own and does not stay as a credit balance. A transfer to a charge that was already paid arrives as payment.unmatched with reason already_paid, as the payload describes. The cases and the 24-hour window are in Late payments. There are no automatic refunds today; if you need to return an excess, write to [email protected] or on WhatsApp at +54 9 351 543 0077.
My webhooks don't arrive and I use Cloudflare. What do I do?
Allow the egress IP 18.231.238.36 in your WAF or Cloudflare (Bot Fight Mode included): a bot challenge can't be solved by a server, so every delivery fails while your application logs nothing. Details in Egress IP.
Charges
I apply a surcharge that grows with the days overdue. Can I update the amount of a pending charge?
No. The amount can only be edited while the charge is a draft. A charge has up to two due dates: the second collects the amount plus a surcharge, percentage or fixed, calculated when the charge is created. For surcharges with more than two steps, cancel the charge (if it has not received payments yet) and create another one with the new amount and a new referenceId: the referenceId of a canceled charge stays taken. See Due dates and surcharge, Draft without an amount and Cancel a charge.
Is there a CVU limit per merchant?
Yes, up to 100 CVUs per merchant account, the same for everyone, and it is not raised. In CUIL mode, charges of different payers share CVUs, so having more than 100 payers with an open charge does not use 100 CVUs. See Reconciliation and Operations and errors.
I canceled a charge because I was paid another way, and a transfer still arrived. What happens?
The money is credited to the merchant's account and is not matched to the canceled charge. If the charge was canceled within the previous 24 hours, you get payment.unmatched with reason canceled and the charge's data; if more time has passed, it arrives with no associated charge. There are no automatic refunds today; if you need to return it, write to [email protected] or on WhatsApp at +54 9 351 543 0077. The reasons are in Webhooks.
Messages
Can I use the API without Chytapay writing to the payer?
Yes. With sendWhatsappNotification: false no notice goes out, and with sendWhatsappPaymentConfirmation: false the payment confirmation does not go out. The merchant still gets an email for each payment. The fields are in Payer notifications.
Is the daily message cap per integration or per merchant?
Per integration, adding up all its merchants: 20 per day in Sandbox and 200 initial per day in Production. Only charges that send WhatsApp use the cap. It is raised with Pedir más límite (Request more limit) in the Portal. See Limits and What counts as a message.
Money and the merchant
When does a payment show as credited?
As soon as Chytapay receives the transfer, it matches it to the charge and sends you the webhook.
Can the merchant withdraw to their bank whenever they want?
Yes, from their Chytapay account, with no minimum, according to the terms of their account.
How does a merchant sign up, and what identity validation does it go through?
To set up their account, the merchant signs up with Chytapay and goes through identity validation (KYC). An individual does it with their DNI and a biometric check; a company also completes a file with its documentation. With the account approved, they can authorize your integration.
Does the automatic ARCA invoice work with charges created by API?
Yes. If the merchant has automatic invoicing turned on, an invoice to Consumidor Final (final consumer) is issued when the charge is fully paid.
Commissions
Can I charge a different percentage to each merchant?
Yes. The integrator commission is configured per merchant, and you collect it in a single collection account. See Charging a commission.
Can I split a charge between several accounts, for example the club and the instructor?
No. Today the only split is your integrator commission to your collection account.
